Festival UkreP ZA 2016

Sinja Ožbolt in Andreja Kopač Somewhere, there is always a beginning of the path, and after that, everything that follows is – time and again – a new beginning. Each performance is a new adventure, new path, regardless of the age and experience of the author. But the continuity is essential. How it can be achieved at all, at this time, in this space? How do we take action? Where is the difference, where lies the added value? What else are we to do, what do we stand for, what are we thinking, what are we risking, how do we act, what are we proving, what are we disproving, what are we giving up, what we cannot and must not give up? Ukrep 2016 follows its main mission: to respond to the respective needs of our cultural space and contemporary dance practice, to place them in a creative dialogue, to induce reactivity to the artistic and social problems of the current moment, to work towards development, and to take action. Ukrep festival is a creative scope of action, bringing together the youngest, middle and older generations of dance artists from Slovenia and abroad. Ukrep ZA is an intervention into more complex structures; a transition towards tools for generating, decoding and promoting dance language, its perception, its sensory experience, its memory. The festival showcased authors from different generations and countries who keep developing their own ideas, thereby creating contemporary dance perspectives – here and now.
