O PREDSTAVI IN AVTORICI

Povprečni človek se le redko najde v situaciji, v kateri sta njegovo življenje in obstoj neposredno ogrožena. A strah kljub temu vlada svetu.

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE AND THE AUTHOR

An average person is seldom met with a situation which puts his life and existence in direct threat. Fear, however, nonetheless controls human existence in the world. Even in the case of primal fear for one's life, instinctive reactions can be inhibited and controlled through common sense reactions and rational choices of our behavior. Fear is unpleasant, but life without it is impossible. We fear loneliness, old age, loss of physical strength and beauty; we fear the proximity of other people; we are afraid to sincerely show our feelings, afraid that someone will betray or use us. We fear change and want to keep things exactly as they are. An animal in danger runs away, attacks, or stiffens. A person in danger runs away, attacks, stiffens, and screams.

The day after makes all the difference – or - does it? Is there one?

Veronika Valdés started dancing at the Department for Contemporary Dance at the Ljubljana Music and Ballet Conservatory at the age of 4. She performed at annual public performances in Španski borci as well as at various other venues and festivals throughout Slovenia, on some occasions with solo dance miniatures, while on other occasions she carried important roles in larger dance productions. She continued with her dance education at the Art Secondary School, where she enrolled in the Contemporary Dance course. Following the completion of her secondary education in 2011 she enrolled into the Academy for Dance in Ljubljana.

She also participates in professional projects, sometimes by co-creating them, sometimes by performing in them and sometimes she does both. Last year she performed in the musical and physical performance Butcher’s shop, directed by Sabina Schwenner, while this year she helped co-create The Daddy Project, an original dance and theatrical performance.

At a tender age of nine she received the 1st prize for her creativity at the international competition of young dancers Opus-1, an award she received on another two occasions. She was also awarded the silver insignia of Meta Vidmar for her long-lasting creative contribution in establishing contemporary dance in Slovenia, a recognition awarded by the Republic of Slovenia Public Fund for Cultural Activities.
