Public call for dancers / movement artists / performers (with or without experience)
to apply for the workshop and performance/installation/show “Burn Time” – a project by Portuguese artist André Uerba
Dance Theatre Ljubljana, André Uerba, Lighting Guerrilla Festival, and Glej Theatre invite dancers/movement artists/performers (with or without experience) to participate in the workshop and performance/installation entitled “Burn Time”.
WHO: Experienced or inexperienced dancers/movement dancers/performers (aged 18–55), max 13 participants
WHEN: June 6–15, 2018, from 4 p. m. to 8 p. m. (time subject to change)
WHERE: Ljubljana, Dance Theatre Ljubljana & Glej Theatre
ABOUT THE PROJECT: “Burn Time” is a performance/installation for up to 16 bodies where the choreography unfolds from the movement of burning threads. The room is dark, defined by an installation of hanging cotton threads. Gradually - one after the other, and sometimes several at the same time - they will be set alight, creating a languorous space of incessant change and fading. The performers are focused on the flames, on the light which illuminates parts of their bodies. Everything is reduced to a slow and profound pace, affecting the way the audience behaves and moves through the space. When they enter into the room – with the pace of their lives – they should feel that what’s happening inside is something else, something at a different pace, a sort of meditative state. At a time of ongoing existential and distracting struggles between being in the present and future projections, “Burn Time” represents a sort of commitment to recognize the present moment and to surrender ourselves to the here and now.
Burn Time invites you to experience light, darkness, fire and movement in a unique way on the stage.
APPLICATION: Your application should include personal information (name, age, address, e-mail address, telephone number), and a short motivational letter in English and Slovene, explaining why you wish to participate in the project. O umetniku
