O predstavi
About the performance
Contemporary dance performance Code du totémisme deals with the interpretation of subconscious rules within a proto tribe ruled by the law of authority, which materializes through an object or totem. The inspiration and starting point for interpreting the hierarchical division and the resulting laws is Sigmund Freud’s Totem and Taboo. It contains key scientific answers and views on the very beginning of the world, when the first signs of human need to believe in a supernatural being that enables the existence of civilization and the balance of an individual's spiritual world have appeared. The author of the performance looks at the relationship between the sexes in prehistoric times and the role of the human individual through life from birth to death. With the help of theology, he wants to draw attention to the interpersonal relations within a tribe and their codes of prohibition, and to the transformations of belief in divinity from totems to religion.
